Why is our Work At Medic Mentor
Important to the NHS?
There are several serious issues that a currently affecting the NHS which directly relates to the work that we do with aspiring students. These include addressing the doctor shortage, promoting diversity and inclusivity, improving patient outcomes and supporting innovation and progress.
Many organisations focus on training and recruiting doctors, but also forget that doctors were once medical students, and before that they were aspiring students, just like you. Education, training and high-quality wellbeing support should not start when you graduate – you should have access to this now, from the beginning of your journey as an applying student.
The journey to become a doctor is a life-long learning process that is fun and rewarding. While there may be several groups trying to ‘get students into medical school’, Medic Mentor is the only one that goes beyond this to support students with mentoring throughout their careers via Medsoc UK (for medical students) and Doctor Mentor (for doctors). Our focus combines getting students into medical school with helping students develop the qualities of a good doctor, because you need both to be a successful and happy doctor.
